Custom Wine Cellars in Phoenix and Scottsdale: Design, Kits and Materials

Prestige Wine Cellars designs custom wine cellars and wine walls for homes across Phoenix and Scottsdale, and supplies engineered kits and materials for your licensed Arizona contractor to build. With July highs above 100°F and few basements to work with, cooling is the first thing to get right.

We don’t build or install in Arizona. We design and supply, and a contractor licensed in Arizona builds the room. Homeowners from Paradise Valley and Arcadia to Silverleaf can start the same way.

What Makes a Phoenix Wine Cellar Different

The Valley’s heat is the obvious problem. The dry air and the short monsoon season matter too.

Extreme heat drives the cooling

Phoenix averages a July high of about 106°F, and nights stay in the mid 80s. Your cooling unit’s rating, and where any outdoor equipment sits, need checking against those conditions.

Cellars are rarely underground

Basements are uncommon here, because shallow footings and hard caliche soil make them costly to dig. Most cellars will be interior rooms, wine walls or tasting rooms.

Dry air can hurt corks

For much of the year, the desert air is very dry. Cooling also removes moisture, so ask how the system will keep humidity in range, and not just how it holds temperature.

Why central AC fails →

The monsoon flips the conditions

When the monsoon arrives, the air gets noticeably more humid for weeks at a time. The envelope and vapor barrier need to work in both conditions, not just the dry ones.

Phoenix and Scottsdale Wine Cellar Questions, Answered

Do you build wine cellars in Phoenix or Scottsdale?

We don’t build or install in Arizona. We provide the design, kits and materials, and a contractor licensed in Arizona builds the room. Construction contracts are between you and your contractor.

Can you have a basement wine cellar in Phoenix?

You can, but basements are uncommon in Arizona because shallow footings and caliche soil make digging one expensive. Most Valley cellars are above ground.

Will a wine cellar work in Arizona’s heat?

Yes, if it’s insulated and sealed properly and the cooling is sized for the actual conditions, including glass and any exterior walls.

How do you keep humidity up in a dry climate?

Start with a tight vapor barrier so the room holds its moisture, then choose a cooling system that can manage humidity. Check this with your HVAC contractor at the design stage.

Can you ship a wine cellar kit to Arizona?

Yes. Our Edition kits deliver anywhere in the world, and your own contractor can install them.

How much does a kit or design cost?

Edition plans start at $5,000. Custom design is a flat fee of $5,000 to $10,000, set by project size. Construction cost depends on your contractor and your space.
