The cable

Bottles hung in the air

Tensioned vertical cable runs floor to ceiling and the bottles hang on it — nothing beneath them, nothing above them but the next bottle. Light panels at the head and foot send the light along the run instead of onto it, so what you read from across the room is a series of lit vertical lines with the wine suspended between them. It is the reason the edition is called what it is.

The end wall

One run, plate to plate

The short wall carries a single uninterrupted cable wall, ninety-five inches from floor to ceiling with nothing crossing it — no shelf, no rail, no bay. It is the clearest statement of the idea in the whole room, and the first thing you see when the glass door opens.

The bar

Where you actually pour

Two floating shelves ride on integrated light panels above a cabinet with diamond-lattice fronts: glassware lit from beneath, a stone counter at working height, a sink for what needs rinsing. Every other edition is a wall you take a bottle from. This one is a room you stay in.

The bins

What the cable cannot hold

Beneath the cable bays the main wall turns to horizontal display bins with a chevron rack at the centre — the working half of the room, where cases land and everyday bottles live. Cable for what you want seen; bins for what you want reached.

FINISH

The Filament

Four ways

Tap a finish to sweep it across the room. As built is included — walnut, brass, and the green the room was painted. The alternates move paint, timber and metal together, because a finish that changes the joinery and leaves the ceiling behind reads as an oversight; they are quoted with your drawings. Custom opens every material, priced above the authored finishes.

Edition of Ten

Three decisions: how deep it runs, which specification, and how you’d like it delivered. Cooling, structural load and engineering are ours — they’re never a question you have to answer.

Step 1
Capacity
Pick the size. The design, proportions and details stay exactly as drawn — only the bottle count changes.

As drawn

The Filament is offered in one configuration: the room exactly as drawn, three worked elevations at 448 bottles. Rooms of other proportions are drawn as private commissions rather than sold as sizes.

Step 2
Specification
Signature is the piece as drawn. Black upgrades the materials and the glass — nothing else changes.
The Filament Signature
• Precision-milled cable columns on tensioned stainless runs • Standard clear tempered safety glass • Integrated light panels top and bottom of every run
Included
The Filament Black
• Heirloom-grade joinery, hand-applied finish, made in the USA • Starphire low-iron glass — no green edge cast • Integrated light panels top and bottom of every run

Have this configuration sent to you

We'll email the specification exactly as you've built it. No obligation, no drawings released.

Pricing shown is indicative. Final price is confirmed after field verification of your opening.

What Design Plans includes

Full architectural drawings dimensioned to your verified opening — plan, elevations, sections and details — plus structural load calculations, a complete material schedule listing every component, finish and quantity, and the cooling specification sized for your configuration. A licensed set, not a sketch.

Materials are not supplied at this level. Our racking, glass and cooling partners sell through authorised dealers only, so if you’d like us to supply and crate the components, choose Design + Materials.

Credited if you upgrade. The full plans fee is credited toward Design + Materials or Design + Build if you move up within twelve months.

Licensed for one build at one address. Not transferable and not for resale.

Provenance

Drawn, then built.

The Filament began as shop drawing PWC-002, Revision A — 448 bottles suspended on tensioned cable across three worked walls of a room you walk into. Every other edition in the collection carries its bottles on pins; this one hangs them in the air, floor to ceiling, with light panels top and bottom putting the light along the run rather than on it. What you read from across a room is a series of lit vertical lines with the wine hung on them. It was engineered before it was ever offered — cable tension, structural loads, and the cooling sized to the room. What you receive is that engineering, drawn to your opening.

448

Bottles on cable

Two hundred and eighty-four across the main wall, a hundred and fifty-two on the end wall, twelve at the bar.

95″

Plate to plate

The end wall runs uninterrupted from floor to ceiling — one idea at full height, with nothing crossing it.

1

The only bar

The only edition with a working bar inside it: counter, sink, glassware, and a lit deck for whatever is open.

How It Works

Designed by us. Installed by yours.

Every edition ships as a complete, engineered kit — crated, numbered, and ready for your contractor.

01

Reserve your edition

Choose your size, specification and delivery. We assign your edition number and open the drawing, engineered to your verified opening.

02

Field verification

Your contractor mounts the channel first, then submits verified opening dimensions before any glass is cut.

03

Fabrication

Posts, racking, glass, lighting and hardware are fabricated to your verified measurements — in parallel, with the longest-lead component setting the schedule.

04

Crated delivery

Everything arrives palletized and labeled by install sequence, with a printed guide and video for each assembly.

05

Your contractor installs

Posts anchor floor to ceiling, the base sets like millwork, and the glass drops into the channel. We’re on call throughout.

Box & Papers

Owned by ten. Documented like it.

A fine watch is worth more with its box and papers. Your cellar arrives the same way.

Questions

Answered.

Who installs it?

Your own contractor. Every edition is engineered as a kit — components arrive crated, numbered and drawn to your verified opening, with an installation set a competent carpenter can work from. No specialty glazier, no factory crew flown across the country. In Texas we install it ourselves if you’d rather.

Will it fit my space?

Almost certainly, and it won’t need to be a standard size.

The Filament is drawn to your verified opening rather than to a catalogue dimension.

It scales across 122½″ × 55⅛″ room · 95″ racking height, and the proportions hold at any size in that range.

What happens if a measurement is wrong?

The sequence is built to prevent it. The channel and framing ship first and are installed before anything is cut. Your contractor then returns signed, verified opening dimensions, and only then is the glass cut and the racking finalised. Nothing expensive is fabricated against a number nobody has checked.

What’s included, and what isn’t?

Included: the architectural drawing set, all racking and display components, glass, lighting, hardware, the cooling unit sized for your configuration, and crated delivery. Not included: the wall or enclosure itself, electrical supply, and finish work by others. The drawing set states exactly which trades you need and what each is responsible for.

How long does it take?

It varies with the design — components are fabricated in parallel, and the longest one sets the schedule. Millwork runs eight to twelve weeks; metalwork two to four; frameless glass and mirrors about two; the cooling unit about two. Insulated glass doors are the long lead at twelve to sixteen weeks. Your drawing set states the schedule for your exact configuration before anything is fabricated.

What happens if the cooling fails?

Cooling is the one part that fails invisibly — you don’t find out until the wine does. Every edition is sized and specified by us rather than chosen from a list, and Prestige Care covers it from there. If a unit needs a technician the $500 service call is credited toward a replacement.

Is it really only ten?

Yes. Ten of each design, each numbered and recorded in the registry, and then the edition closes for good. The drawings aren’t reissued and the design isn’t rerun under another name.

Can I change the materials?

Yes — that’s Custom, available on any edition. Species, stain, metal finish, glass and stone are chosen with us rather than from a list, and layout or proportions can change too. Still numbered, still part of the edition, and priced above the authored finishes.
