Project Concept Design

This project was a great example of turning an empty niche into a functional seating room. With 11' tall custom steel doors, we really wanted to create a wine cellar that felt grandiose, while working with a small foot print. Combining the cable wine racks with the floating LED shelves delivered a spectacular floating bottle affect.

Our Process

This client did an entire home remodel and wanted to create a sitting room with a wine cellar. Aside from storage for 750ml, champagne, and magnums, this client wanted to match the height of the cellar, to the entrance of the home.

We used a ducted split refrigeration system that was placed in the attic. This allowed for easy servicing, no noise, and minimal equipment to take away from the aesthetic.

The General construction of the wine cellar took 10 business days and the custom wine racking had a lead time of 8 weeks.

The Outcome

Guarded by custom 11 ft steel framed insulated glass doors, this reach in utilizes a combination of racking types, bottle orientations, bottle sizes, and materials.

Starting with the custom wood racking on the bottom we have mixed use between alder wood with a custom gray stain and lacquer, with black anodized aluminum rails. Here we have cork forward, triple deep horizontal, and angled display rows.

We matched a piece of white quartzite from the main home and used that for our countertop and bottom anchor for the cable racks. This countertop is also perfect for the clients large format bottles.

To maximize the space for bottles, we gave the cables both a cork forward row, and a horizontal row all the way up to the ceiling.

Nestled between the cable racks we have three floating led shelves made with a white acrylic, wrapped in the same gray stained alder wood as the wine racking.
